PC LinuxOS,just a average Linux OS

I run the Debian-based distro above on my computer.

I found that it is just an average distro. Why?it does not look much different with other KDE distros.I know that all Linux distros are about the same, but PC LinuxOS does not give us a reason why I should install it instead of the other Linux OS.

Anyway,here is my screenshot

Nothing much to say anyway, but anyhow it configures all my stuff correctly and it can do normal activities like surfing, office application and listening to music.

It uses OpenOffice as its Office application, firefox as browser and Amarok as its music player,Mplayer for playing VCDs and DVDs,K3B for CD and DVD burning and software like GIMP,Synaptic Package Manager is included.

I think it runs quite well if it is install to HDD,and runs more slowly in CD Drive, therefore it is not suitable to use it as emergency CDs(can actually but it's not too ideal) or in an old computer with <128 onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYUGMBLp4S9rQjqMJ7zfs2HdNX4mEGm5NTrozDE_WpOBP1RnN1bcJsL2ch7T-lhLQBigyeCRTcYWNZ97Bo_qxOKNS_pkUijuv6oku14v_DtKmXro1zJiTIyNgR_Rh6MXbmPkZdKCKUdO4/s1600-h/PCLinuxOS1.jpg">

It offers a very efficient control panel which let user setup something like printer or anything, control setting and many more.

It's not that it is not a good linux distro, just that there are many distros that offers same features therefore makes it not "good enough"

Hi, welcome to Linux!

I'm a PCLOS fan, I hope you don't mind I state my disagreement with your review :)

The fact that you said it's Debian-based indicate you didn't pay much attention to PCLinuxOS. Actually it's historically Mandriva-based, but it has its own repos and they work like a dream. Not so Ubuntu and its derivatives, and I tried them more than once. The control panel is awesome, the best and most powerful around except, maybe, the Madriva Control panel, from which it is derived (this is admitted even by the fiercest PCLOS critics). It's much easier to get help with PCLOS than with Ubuntu. The forums are much less noisy and there's always clueful people available. Same with the irc channel. PCLOS is now #1 over 30 days in distrowatch, for a reason. I hope you take a deeper look at it, after trying other distros. I think you'll change your mind.

Thank you for your comments.

I'm very sorry for my mistake.Hope you will forgive me for that.I will check the distro's detail before I do any review about it.

First,I'm not saying PCLOS is bad,but I think it does not stand out from the rest of the distros like Linspire etc.

About the forum, when a distros are famous of course the service would not good.it's like a restaurant with a lot of people eating inside,of course the food sometimes is not as delicious as food cooked when the restaurant is vacant.

Anyhow,I will take a deeper view about this distro
